Our favorite book!
This is perhaps our favorite book! My kids love it, and there are so many fun voices (and singing) you can do to make it a great read. We love Julia Donaldson books!

Toddlers are obsessed with this book
My kids love Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. Like, everything they do, my kids can't get enough of. They love the short little movies of their work, they love the illustration style and all the silly little elements Mr. Scheffler sneaks in. They love the story lines, the rhythm. And this book they maybe like most of all. Maybe it's because I made up a tune to sing when the giant is singing his little song? But regardless, this book is a hit at our house.I like it, because I feel like it aides me in teaching them the importance of sharing and generosity, as well as the idea that material items aren't the most important things in life. It's a lofty concept for toddlers. But it's a good launching point.

Most beautiful book about kindness
This was and still is one of our family's favorite books of all time. It is a sweet story of being kind and selfless to strangers. Sometimes you can give everything, even the clothes off of your back to others who need it more than you do. However, it also addresses how one must be appreciative and grateful to that person who made the kind gesture and how that makes the giver feel. My kids are now 12 (son) and 14 (daughter) and are supposedly "too cool", but they still humor me when I ask them if they'd like to read "baby books" when they know I just want to snuggle. This is always one of the books they choose :)

Selfless Giving is Rewarding
Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler are consistently a winning combination in today's flood of children's books, and The Smartest Giant in Town ranks as one of the top - and we own nearly 20 of their books!Living in the city my 4.5 year old twins regularly ask about how to help people we see on the street that may be down on their luck. This whimsical story is one of the few that brings forth the importance of selfless giving to others. Recently my son even asked if I could give a man one of his granola bars I had in my bag, because he wasn't hungry and figured that man needed it more than he did. This warmed my heart, and made both kids happy when I passed the granola bar and a bottle of water to the man. We also refer to this book when we gather clothes and toys for donation. This used to be a struggle, but now they gather things themselves that they know they don't use anymore.

Such a fun book to read
George was a giant, the scruffiest giant in town...until he decided to make a change. He's exceptionally proud of his new look but as he goes through his day, he finds there's alot of animals who need his help! George quickly realises that he can fix all their problems... but at a cost! This books is one of the many Donaldson books we own and they are all extremely fun to read for adults and kids alike!I love the illustrations and all the animal characters we meet along George's journey! Also love George's kind ways!

Great message, fun rhyming
From the writer of Room on the Broom and Gruffalo, the story is fun and the message is positive. I read about it on a blog that described it as "the same message of the generosity of The Giving Tree but with the gratitude in return missing from that classic." Pretty accurate! We got this book for our son who, age appropriately, was having trouble sharing. He likes it and we've shared with a friend who also loves it. It's a bit whimsical and good message about giving to those that need our help.
