Super quality

Fire ring came quickly, real easy to install because it was a replacement, just spin it on.The double ring make it look great and an even flame.I would highly recommend, good quality, made of stainless steel.

Perfect replacement for 30+ year old rusted one

I have a 30+ year old fire pit where the existing fire ring looked like a rusted artifact found on the Titanic. It was missing one entire tubular 6-in section (rusted away...) and others with big holes. I should have replaced it years ago, but it was under a pyramid of lava rock and not obvious in how bad of shape it was. This one appears well built and is of stainless steel for longevity. After installation and rebuilding the lava-rock pile I have a nice, even distribution of heat. The gas holes *might* be outputting a bit less gas than optimal due to the length of time it takes to really get the fire pit rocking. But that is compared to one that had massive rusted-out holes with hot spots and voids in the heating. I could always drill open the holes a little if I wanted. But I've been using it for years, and the slight slowness heating up the rocks initially has not motivated me to do that, so it really isn't a big deal.Happy customer.

Skyflame 18 inch

It was easy to put in but my outside fire pit must have a regulator in it. This flame is better than what I had before but not what I expected. No fault of the Skyflame.

I'm a Gas Journeyman. Great buy. Great Quality.

I work on a lot of Fire Features and Fire Pits as a Gas Journeyman. The quality is right up there with HPC. The 304 stainless steel is thick and the holes are drilled. That is something you want to look for if buying these. If you buy a different type, zoom in on the pic. If they are punched holes instead of drilled holes stay away from those. They fall apart in no time. You can tell if they are punched because you will see a dent around the hole. This particular one has a raised center which is perfect for keeping the rain water from backing up into your gas line. If you buy a flat ring without a raised center, then here is the rule: Holes down if Natural Gas, Holes up if Propane. With this ring there is only one way to install it.

Bigger ain't always Better

First off, I found out how little I know about LP, pressure regulators, flow, and fittings. I spent more time gathering parts then putting it all together.I purchased a cheap furniture set at HD with a fire pit. I knew I wouldn't use wood since it was going under an overhang. I came to Amazon and found this fire ring and it suggested several other items to include fittings, hoses and a regulator. Wish I had bought most of those items at the same time, and don't forget teflon tape for fuel lines. I have extra regulators, but they are for low pressure gas grills, didn't know there was a difference. The regulator also has a flow control, another highly needed item.I learned that you must drill several holes in the bottom of an enclosed fire pit since the gas is heavier than air; there is a possibility the pit could fill with gas otherwise. I used the grate from the firepit as a base for the lava rocks, really should have a thin piece of sheet metal instead, it would make arranging the rocks and keeping them in place easier, beside, they sometimes fall through. Also used a 2 foot yellow flexible/semi-ridged gas line from the pit to the rubber flex hose, was warned it might be a hazard if say a kid melts a toy on top of the rocks and the hot flaming plastic were to drip on the rubber hose. Sounds legit, considering my teenage kids...The 12 inch may have been a better fit since the 18 " goes all the way to the edge of the fire pit.In the photos, the pressure is at the lowest setting that allows the flames to all stay lit. I don't know what the highest setting would do, but I know the flames will reach at least three feet tall pretty darn fast. Lighting these are kinda a pain since each hole has to be lite individually, and its best to do it before the guest settle into their seats with a cold drink in their hands; things can get messy real quick. I think my next investment will be a handheld plumbers tourch; a stick lighter might cause you to lose all the hair on one arm and possibly your eyebrows, at least that's what I've heard...

Works exactly as described

We used this propane burner top for a DIY propane fire pit in our back yard. It is very easy to set up (you just screw it onto a receiving end/pipe). It's heavy (good quality, not cheap materials) and was welded together very nicely. It looks clean and as if it were professionally-installed! We highly recommend it.
