I’m a big fan of Lego and an avid collector, and have introduced my niece/nephews to it from an early age. I don’t tend to go for other branded bricks but when I saw this set I knew I had to give it a go.My 6 year old niece loves ice cream, more than any other person I’ve ever known! She is also a fan of Barbie dolls so she was super excited to make this.This ‘Mega’ Barbie set has 226 pieces (according to the box, but which I didn’t count individually!) and includes a car, 2 figures (Barbie and friend) and an ice cream stand with table/chair set.The parts come in 5 different numbered plastic bags and a separate easy to follow instruction booklet. It’s aimed at ages 6+, and my niece needed some help with putting it together.After assembling it, the set offers great playability. We spent ages role playing ‘driving’ to the ice cream stall and ordering different flavoured ice creams!The plastic bricks look almost identical to genuine Lego but feel slightly lighter in weight and sound different when mixing together. They are interchangeable and compatible with each other, although personally I’d never mix them!The price of the set is fairly expensive for non genuine Lego, but I guess the Barbie branding is what pushes the cost up.

A 225 piece Lego-like set for six years and older they say. Age five too, is very doable. Our seven year old built this independently as the instructions are almost identical to Lego, which she also enjoys building. The set is a collaborative with Lego and thus it is a good set for those that want something a little more engaging than the usual Barbie dolls. our little one has a few Barbies, which she loves, she also loves Lego, as such this allows her to dream up the perfect layout and alter the theme as she wishes before having a good Barbie foodie meet-up with her friend at the "gelato truck", she says. A favourite treat she's almost too well accustomed to!It took her about 90 minutes to build this on her own.5 stars
