A friend of ours -- who has raised snakes for quite some time -- recommended this stuff to us. The only thing I underestimated was how much water would stretch this out! So a word to the wise: don't hydrate it all at once!! Especially if you order 2 bricks at a time, like we do XD.We absolutely love this stuff. We ordered it for a royal ball python and it's PERFECT for them. She loves to burrow and dig around in it. It's also EXTREMELY easy to switch out when it's time to clean the tank. Seems to help with the humidity levels they need, too! (Don't forget the moss, though. It's a combination deal that really maintains it.)The only thing I'd caution you on is if you ever deal with annoying little mites like we did. They'll use this stuff to hide. (Which, in NO way, is a negative towards them. :) I just wanna stress that!) All we had to do was sub this stuff with some paper towels while we got rid of said mites. As soon as she was clear, we went straight back to this stuff. Very happy royal ball python!I highly recommend this product, ESPECIALLY if you've got a royal ball python!

Got this for my box 🐢🐢 because they kept eating the wood chips along with the superworms I'd feed them & one of my babies had a prolapse (needed surgery) because of it. Saw they needed a change & I must say I definitely got more than needed. Not complaining though. 🥰 Didn't realize just how much one brick is but good to know I'll have extra for the future. Easy to make in about 30 minutes for me( first brick was stubborn). The smell is clean and earthy! I love it! I'm just waiting for the soil and moss to dry so my baby and his toys can be added. Then on to his sister's. Best purchase. ☺️

I had a 55 gallon aquarium that I was turning into a terrarium.... spent 12$ on 3 bricks of this same type of soil. It didn't touch the amount I needed. I bought this package of soil and it exceeded my expectations! To have finished our with buying the smaller bricks from the pet store?...... that price would hit near 90 or more $$!.. Now do I get to see my Frogs.. Salamander.. Lizard? NOPE! My rainforest that was created by this soil engulfed them!!! I am so happy for my critters..... the rainforest.... and my purchase of this soil!!!! A happy returning customer I will be! Thank you!!

My crabby patties enjoyed the substrate so much when I jail broke them out of the pet store that they immediately went underneath it for months.Imagine getting a brand new pet and they dig into the ground and hide for months. Apparently they really like it and don’t worry they came out they’re alive.

I would GLADLY give this a 5* but there was a handful of plastic shreddings in the bedding.I bought the 10 pound brick.... and it is a BRICK. It comes in like a foot by a foot by 4 or 5 inches (does not fit in a 5 gallon bucket)I used a quarter to show the plastic and then kept the theme when showing what the 10 pound brick makes just for fun. I think this is the softest bedding I've ever used. And unlike the big brands, this brick actually decompressed ON ITS OWN when I poured about 5.5 gallons of water over it. That alone was worth the purchase!I definitely recommend this, and I don't normally do reviews, I just wish they would find a way to keep the plastic pieces out.

I just got a cornsnake and didn't know how much I'd need to fill a 40 gallon tank, this was wayyyy more than I needed which is way better than not having enough but it was comical how much was left lol.

It expands and works really well for enrichment in my hamsters dig boxes. One block was enough to fill three dig boxes for my three pets. It smells like dirt which is expected and it is soft! I'm not sure about the filtering ability as I got it to use in my hamsters' tanks and am planning to replace it completely with more if it gets too stinky.It did take several days to dry after i soaked it to expand it..

Good quality. Used it for my spiders habbitat. He doesn't seem to mind it.
