How wonderful a real cup of coffee can be! It is worth a bit of fuss.

We all know that coffee is going to get expensive and that k-cups are bad for the environment, so time to switch to ground. I'd used Chemex years ago and almost went that way, when I came across this little bodum. The size was perfect for someone used to making one cup at a time (the single-serve habit). It didn't require paper filters, a plus for the environment. And, it was cute as a button! I've made one cup so far, and not the first cup of the day; that will wait until I get in some practice (the skills we lose!). Was the coffee good? OMG! I sucked that first cup right down! I'd forgotten how wonderful a real cup of coffee can be! There was a bit of dust/ground stuff in bottom of my cup; this has never bothered me in the least, though some of you might want to use a paper filter with this. I won't. The coffee was just too, too good to mess with.

Phenomenal Product

Trust me when I say I never write reviews, but this little guy is totally amazing, great price, so cute but yet classy and made my first ever pour over an heavenly experience! The short, but sweet directions were spot on even for this novice. I googled a few pour over tips and found recommendations on the grind setting (med-course) heating water (4 oz) to around 200°F in a spouted kettle, pour slowly in circular motion, stop, repeat. Directions are on side of box as well. The carafe is the heat safe borosilicate glass. Reusable stainless steel filter is the bomb. Be sure to wash the cork and leather strap by hand if needed as stated in directions. The reason I'm taking the time to review this Bodum Pour Over is because I have no doubts that you will enjoy this inexpensive, well made little piece of heaven! I'm looking forward to using loose leaf tea in this as well.Do yourself a favor and try this...because you deserve to enjoy an amazing cup of coffee!

Love it!!

We absolutely love it! First off the driver actually ran down our long driveway that goes downhill in 4-in snow to deliver it. What an awesome driver, when they could have just driven right by or thrown it at the top of our driveway as others have done. Second, this is really easy to use and I absolutely love it. The coffee came out tasting so much better than it does in that ridiculous drip coffee maker. Poor slow, to no overflow filter. But you will have to stop several times and keep adding more water as it goes down. You need patience for this because it takes quite a bit of time. But the end game is completely worth it. I wanted to show that my hand, as a medium-sized hand woman, is able to get all my fingers on the cork. Another reviewer had complained that she could not but she was not even trying from her picture. Of course it's not going to be perfect for everyone and yes the glass gets hot. To make that perfect cup or more of coffee, your water temperature should be between 195 to 205°. Do not go any higher as your coffee could taste burnt.I have not tried it with a filter yet, but I will. Being somebody who has high LDL it is recommended that we paper filter our coffee as there are kahweal and safestol in coffee beans that can be filtered out with a paper filter. This is true for me because we used to have a coffee grinder pot that did not use paper filters and once I stopped using it at the recommendation from my doctor, my cholesterol went down by 10%.Lastly another reviewer was not sure about the little plastic piece that comes to put in the top to pour your coffee. She was afraid it was going to break the glass. Hot glass is not going to break as easy as cold glass. And if you ever so carefully put it in there like I did you're completely fine. It actually slides in very easy due to the Steam on the glass.

Cute but not the most practical

Cute gift I received from a partner. The glass isn’t super thick but I haven’t exactly been worried about it breaking. The filter and stopper included are plastic but very easily cleaned. I usually use it to make enough for 2 servings (12oz each) and could definitely make more. I haven’t had an issue with quality but if you use too much water you’ll definitely be able to taste the difference. I will say I don’t use it often enough. I haven’t gotten a kettle yet so preparing the hot water just takes more effort than it’s worth for me to just not have coffee.
