Excellent basic coffee maker
Good value. Easy to operate and makes good coffee from ground or from beans. Keeps coffee hot for 40 minutes and easy to empty filter and clean. Not for those who like the ultra sophisticated Barista style coffee makers but it is a compact and reliable machine and at a very reasonable price. Last one I had lasted 15 years

Don't worry about the nit picky reviews!
Exactly what we wanted and great value. I read many many reviews about all different coffee makers of this style between this price and about £150. The pros and cons were all really similar but this one won due to price and someone saying it was quiet.I'm so glad we bought this one, there was a couple of things in other people's reviews on my cons list but none of them have bothered me at all upon getting the machine! It is quiet and only grinds for a few seconds. We've had it about 4 days and have used it easily 20 times! It's so simple to operate and to clean. You can set a timer so you wake up to coffee as well. The people saying they don't like the taste etc etc... I think it's really down to you to see how you like it, you can make it stronger or weaker on the system itself or just add more or less beans/ground coffee.. I really don't understand people saying they 'hate' the taste etc...just experiment! See what you like or buy some different coffee! To these people also... it's a £50 machine, there are plenty out there for much more money if you're extremley fussy. My husband and I love our coffee and we tried a couple of different combinations to get it how we liked it, simple. Some reviews moan about having to out the correct amount of water in... is that really such a hardship? If we want a mug of coffee each we just pour in 4 cups of water and it's that simple! It's not complicated or any effort at all. The 'cups' are tiny and I would say 1 cup=2 mugs as other people have said too.Last thing that almost made me not buy it.. people were saying the coffee isn't 'hot'... I'm fairly tough with heat and I literally cannot sip the coffee straight out of the carafe because it is hot! Yes it's not bubbling like it's boiled on the hob but why would you want it to be?! I like a latte so I have a separate electric mill frother which heats the milk but I tried it with lots of cold milk and it's just perfectly drinkable.. not cold at all. If you like black coffee like my husband it's really hot... so I'm really glad I didn't let the reviews put me off!For the price I'm so pleased with this and I can't really imagine what else I would want for an under £150 bean to cup machine. We also have a pod machine and the coffee out of this one is much nicer!

A Convenient Coffee Companion
The Russell Hobbs Chester Grind and Brew Coffee Machine 22000 in Black has been my trusty companion for brewing that perfect cup of coffee. While it has its strengths, there are a few areas where it falls short. Let's delve into the details and provide an honest assessment of this coffee machine.Starting with blending power, I would give it a score of 3 out of 5. The machine doies not give a very good grinding facility on anything other thant the "12 cups" selection, so always set it to that to get a good grind, but once you do you get an OK level of blending power. However, if you prefer a stronger and bolder taste, you may find the blending power to be slightly lacking. While it does an adequate job, there is room for improvement in this area. Whilst there is a way to control how long the grinds stay in the water, between effectively two settings, call them what you will, Yes/No, On/Off, Short/Long, Weak/Strong etc; neither really gives you a heavily brewed cup.To combat this you may find yourself using more beans to make it stronger, but in my experience this just leads to me bouncing around the room due to caffeine overload.Moving on to the timer function, I wholeheartedly give it a perfect score of 5 out of 5. The timer function on this coffee machine is a standout feature, providing convenience and ensuring that your coffee is ready when you need it. With the ability to program the machine to start brewing at a specific time, you can wake up to the delightful aroma of freshly brewed coffee. This feature is especially handy for those who have a busy schedule and need their morning coffee fix to kickstart the day. When it comes to ease of cleaning, I would give it a solid score of 4 out of 5. The coffee machine is relatively easy to clean, with removable parts that can be washed separately. However, there are a few intricate areas that require extra attention during the cleaning process, especially around the grinder blade. The coffee machine has a warmer function where the carafe site so it will keep your coffee hot for about 35-40 minutes before shutting off. This is actually a legal requirement for coffee machines, so you would be hard pressed to find a machine that doesn't do this. There is also an anti-drip function so you can remove the carafe during the coffee making process. I would advise that you dont just pull the carafe straight out but move it off the warmer plate by an inch until you can hear it stop dripping then pull it out, otherwise your going to be spending time cleaning the warmer plate. In terms of overall performance, the coffee machine offers a convenient and enjoyable brewing experience. Its sleek black design adds a touch of elegance to any kitchen countertop, and the 1.5-liter capacity ensures you can brew a substantial amount of coffee for yourself or a group of friends. In conclusion, the Russell Hobbs Chester Grind and Brew Coffee Machine 22000 in Black is a decent choice for coffee enthusiasts who value convenience and a timer function. While it could benefit from improved blending power and even easier cleaning, its user-friendly features and ability to prepare coffee at a specific time make it a worthwhile addition to your kitchen. If you're looking for a reliable coffee machine that offers convenience and customization, this model is definitely worth considering.

Excellent quality bean to cup machine
Having read all the reviews for so many of these bean to cup machines I wasn’t sure I’d get a decent one for this kind of price and given the mixed reviews on this one I wasn’t sure I’d sure I’d be sending it back. However, that’s not the case. I’m completely satisfied with it. The quality is amazing for the price. I have figured out how to make coffee to my taste by adjusting the grind to a higher number of cups than the number of cups I actually need then adding slightly more water than required as some stays in the coffee grinds. It’s no more noisy than any other grinding but the coffee making is very quiet. The coffee temperature is perfect for me as I like everything hot. All round, I highly recommend this machine. I think the price belies the quality of the product and it compares favourably to more expensive machines. I love my Nespresso pod coffees this is a far more cost effective option for decent coffee.
