My tap water is BAD!!!
Pretty much does what I wanted it to do - verify how bad my tap water is! I measured it at 410, and the through the Briata faucet filter at 385. I then test some distilled water and got ZERO, so there's that. I ran the test multiple times, and the result was consistent. Might start trying some different filtering. Simple directions and contols. Consistent readings within a couple of points.

Works pretty well for what it tests.
Tests μS/cm (A measurement of conductivity). An indirect measurement of total dissolved solids like metals, minerals and salts. And measures PPM (Parts per million of very dilute concentrations of substances in water. PPM substances depend on what type of water you are testing but in this case measures TDS (Total dissolved solids) in drinking water.I know that it works accurately because you can compare your readings to water quality reports for your local water through EPA or Utility District Water Reports online. Interestingly, the claims made by our City and County exactly matched the reading range on this device. We have the second cleaest drinking water in the U.S. according to the EPA. This verifies the readings as reported are accurate. You can ignore the color coded lights, red does not mean bad water. Compare that to the EPA and other reports. It will often show red even in perfectly clean water. The readings are good and well within the range to claim it is an accurate tool. Just ignore the red and green lights. On a side note we also use a Primo water dispenser. Tested that water and it comes in at 3 PPM. You cannot get cleaner water.

Works but what in the world with the battery storage design?!?
No, the battery does not last the “whole lifetime” of the meter. You do not specify “how long” does the meter last before the entire device must be replaced. So, does the ENTIRE DEVICE have to be replaced when the battery runs out?!I purchased this device back in 2018. It has been working just fine. However, just today I powered it on and the LCD screen did not display anything. I pulled out the circuit board thinking I just needed to replace the coin cell battery (CR 2032). To my surprise, the battery was wrapped around with some yellow plastic and fused to the device contact terminals. It was not meant to be removed, which is a silly design. I had to use a small plier and small flat headed screw driver to slowly remove the batter from the two terminals. The yellow plastic housing around the battery you no longer need so just dispose of the battery and that garbage yellow “wrapping”. Replaced the battery in the same location the original was found. Used small electrical tape to secure the battery and terminals. Slide it back into the plastic case and powered it back on. The LCD is now brighter than ever and testing different water sources works (try tap water, then bottled water, etc). Now in the future I can replace the battery and just use electrical tape to keep it secured again. The LCD color is nice as it shows RED when water PPM hits above 40 (my case it showed 320!). Bottled water from two separate sources showed 15 ppm and 7 ppm. It’s a tiny lightweight device that easily fits into your pocket or backpack if traveling. The clinic cell battery should last for years but for the company to purposely FUSE the battery to the terminals is annoying. However, looking at the latest photos of this product today, it seems like they changed the battery compartment design. Now you may be able to easily remove the battery for replacement.Taking away one star only because of past flawed design, but it may have been redesigned today. Either way, I was able to DIY to resolve the battery replacement issue for my 2018 model. Other than that, I do recommend this device.

A quality product
I purchased this product to replace one that I had bought a long time ago and the battery was going bad and not replaceable. The old one worked okay. This one works better than okay, it's quick, easy to read and I feel that is accurate. I'd like to how safe the water is that I'm drinking. I recommend this product.good build quality, gives instant reading

Did Some testing
Works great. Tested distilled water as a baseline, tap water, filtered water out of the front water dispenser of my fridge, bottled purified water and bottled spring water. Results seemed accurate though I was surprised to see that the bottled spring water scored about the same as tap water. Thinking that I will be reaching for that bottle of purified water instead...

Must have if you care about water quality
Very happy with this meter. It helped me resolve some issues with water quality for my coffee maker. It’s easy to use and quite consistent as well. Great value all around.

Worked great and easy to use.
It seemed to work great and easy to use. I was very happy that there was no calibrating to do. I have bought some ph strips to check the ph level in the water. To me it seemed easier to use test strips and check the color of the test strips with the color on a chart. Then to always keep recalibrating a electronic tester. I hope I am right.

a little confusing
It test water quality but it is confusing, in terms of functionality bc it has a red or green backlight but i dont think that has anything to do with water quality rather TDS. I can not 100 percent confirm the accuracy bc I doont know much about TDS and only have 1 tester. its build its decent but the battery cap sometimes fall off. it did come with a cute carrying case. it reads almost instantly so there is no wait time for results and overall not bad of value for money.
