+ Inspirational Book - Missing nutritional breakdown on recipes

This is a valuable resource that covers a lot of ground. The recipes are tasty and nutritious and you can learn how to ferment. This book contains ways of potentially removing food intolerances and histamine which l found fascinating.I've been struggling to eat more than 18g of fibre per day and this book has given me some inspiration. I do have a frustration... l can't understand why the recipes don't include the fibre content of the meal. It uses plant points which is new to me and right now less valuable that a nutrition breakdown. I'm going into Zoe to get the nutritional information and they writing it in the book for future reference.

Great & inspiring book for those who need professional help in improving their diet & health.

This is a fantastic book & I will say why but first everyone should know that there is a scam copy book that is being sold in large numbers. I brought my copy on line & was extremely confused to get a weird, small black & white cook book (colour cover but inside black & white) about cooking meat in a pressure cooker which is totally at odds with the full colour plant based fibre cookbook that I was expecting. I got a refund for the fake book then managed to get the correct original on Amazon. I noticed some negative reviews from people who had been sent the wrong book so I thought I would try to help bring clarity with some photos. Since I had both books, I have photographed them together to help out. On the left is the proper book, large, thick, heavy, full colour & unmistakable. On the right is the scam book, small, black & white on the inside & nothing at all to do with the proper book. I hope that clears things up. OK: On to the book itself. The author is a professional gastroenterologist & writes in a fascinating way about all things fibre. He suffered sever ill health himself despite being a professional in the field! We hear this story over & over again from doctors who realise through their own illness what is really required by patients. He realised that medications were not healing people but often food could. He healed himself then moved on to his patients. Many people have a digestive system that is so damaged by pour quality food that it can no longer digest the fibrous foods that the body so badly needs. The microbiome, the intestines are the pharmacy of the body. It produces the many chemicals that we need to thrive. With poor quality food we wont get the nutrients the body needs & we suffer a lot of pain, bloating & disease. The difficulty for many people is that even when they eat the healthy vegetables that could heal them, the body responds with unpleasant symptoms because it struggles to digest the fibre. Dr B explains in superb detail what to do about this. Just like weight training, you have to start small and build up. Tiny bits of healthy fibrous foods give your body practise & it will get better & better at digesting your food for you. In order to avoid pain & illness, he explains how to work out what foods are causing a problem & how to train your body to digest foods in the way that it should. He explains all the many different issues that can exist, how to identify your issues and what exactly to do about them. For myself, I am do not struggle to digest fibre & eat loads of the stuff & always have. The thing that made me want to own the book was the detailed description of the huge and varied value that fibre has. Far from being merely roughage, plant fibre contains thousands of complex chemicals that the body desperately requires for health & to sustain its immune system. I found it thrilling to know that certain vegetables contain very specific & wonderful things. This inspired me to expand my food repertoire & to generally feel really good about eating veg! The only thing I did not like about the book was the substantial use of carbohydrates & grains with every meal. I love my beans & veges but don't eat many grains so many of the recipes were not for me. I also found that many of the meals were time consuming to make & I think authors should take a bit of responsibility for suggesting food that real people, busy people have time to cook. I love fermented food but found his recipes were not nearly as tasty as simple ones that I got from the internet. So a slight disappointment there but well worth the read for the knowledge of what veg to eat and why. If you are suffering from digestive issues such as IBS or suspected celiac disease or some infuriatingly undiagnosed problem then you will love this book. It will give you directions to heal yourself & ways to get the help that you need. Good luck. I hope this was useufl.

Informative book along with easy receipes

I read "Fibre Fuelled "last year and was excited to see Dr. Will was releasing a cook book. I have loads of plant-based and vegan cook books. Some of them I flick through once and never pick up again. Others I return to weekly. I think THIS cook book will join my weekly rotation as I've already ear-marked 4 recipes to make this weekend.I am lucky enough not to have any sensitivities so we can dip in anywhere. I am particularly happy to see information on fermenting and sprouting as both are things I have dabbled with in the past. Having the benefits explained makes it more likely I'll actually stick with them this time.Yes, it is an American"cookbook but I think it's a lot more accessible than some. "White" wholewheat flour is just wholewheat in the UK (the USA has Red and White Wholewheat flour, something to do with wheat varieties). Other than grits and hominy (both of which you buy online in the UK) all of the other ingredients are readily available.Looking forward to getting the pages covered with splashes as I cook.

Life changing

This is without doubt one of the best books I’ve had the pleasure of reading. I’ve been toying with the idea of going more plant based for a while and after hearing Dr Will enthuse about it on a podcast I wanted to find out more so brought this. The recipes are fantastic and unlike so many cookbooks I’ve brought before actually have measurements that I can understand in the u.k.I am by no means a great cook but so far all the recipes I have followed have turned out well. The cauliflower curry is exceptionally good.I would whole heartedly recommend this to anyone who is considering a lifestyle change or just wants to cook some tasty plant based food.

Life changing!

This book is absolutely amazing! The information that Dr. B shares with us is so important for everyone to know, whether you suffer from gut issues or not. This way of eating makes you feel incredible, helps you lose weight if you need to and prevents and improves many illnesses. It has all but eradicated my constipation, and also greatly improved my arthritis symptoms. Not only has it got loads of incredible recipes, it is also a mine of information about food intolerances that make many many people miserable on a daily basis and that can be cured just by changing the food they eat. I honestly recommend this book so highly, and of course his first book, Fibre Fuelled. And if you can catch him some time being interviewed you will see how passionate he is about this subject and how this lovely family man has dedicated his career to helping others through his wealth of knowledge. Just amazing.
