the board is beautiful and a good size. the drum pads feel great and are easy to use. the keys aren’t the most amazing ever and are hardly weighted, but aren’t as plasticy and crappy as a lot of other boards ive used. i like that this has actual pitch and mod wheels, and they are sturdy. it also has track controls on the board which is very convenient. it also comes with some software. i feel like this board is one of the best ones for the price. just to note though this board is NOT compatible with garageband.

The controller is powered by USB and no provision for external power supply. Older models where powered by both. No big deal but if you are going to learn to play a keyboard on a Quest VR then it is going to drain its battery. It has many pre sets for different DAWs which makes it very easy to set up.the sixteen pads are great for anyone into software drumming. They are also velocity sensitive. A great bonus with this midi controller is the software synths that you can download. So you can use it without the need of purchasing a DAW. But then again sequencing with a DAW is fantastic.

This is good value an very flexible in use. It can work very well with most virtual instruments. The instructions are well written and clear, and readilly available on the M-Audio web site. So look there first if you want detail.The keys don't offer the range of sensitivities or aftertouch that more expensive keyboards offer: much more expensive keyboards. And that's probably the biggest criticism of this - and maybe an unfair one for its excellent price and value proposition.A beginner could use this - but someone who has spent the effort to pair the very generous number of sliders and pads up (or to do that for the beginner) will get far more pleasure and utility out of it. Any adult who can read the manual of the language of their choice, should have few problems in following the excellent instructions.Portability? It's about as portable as an electric bass guitar, and really needs a decent padded gig bag or case if you're going to be lugging it about on a regular basis.
