Single strand. I love these. Works great and my teeth are squeaky clean.

Q: how long is the handle?

The same size as an average adult toothbrush.

Q: Does the floss head pivot?

Mine don't pivot but it does do a great job cleaning between my teeth and behind back teeth I love mine I use it until the floss breaks then I take off the old head and snap on a new one they seem to last a long time hope this helps
