Good source of Curcumin - Try a tea with it.
I was hesitant to order this product because of several negative reviews, but I've received a fresh fragrant spice with an expiration date of 2017 (4 years to expiration). It is almost impossible to find organic turmeric or decent sized spice where I live, so I was really glad to find this huge 16 oz product, much bigger in volume than what you'd anticipate compared to 16 oz liquid in size. My mother recently underwent both breast and lung cancer surgeries along with radiation therapy, so I have her taking turmeric tea to help prevent the cancer from coming back amongst other daily protocols. The following is the recipe I use -10 oz boiling water (big mug size)1 tsp turmeric powder1/4 tsp black pepperCover and steep for 10 minutes.Add some coconut oil or flax oil for improved absorbency. You may find this too spicy as mother did, so you can lower the strength or increase the water content while keeping the turmeric/black pepper ratio at around 4:1. You can add lemon or honey if you feel the need to improve the taste, but I personally believe it's best to avoid any form of sugar since it's inflammatory and cancer cells LOVE sugar. The curcumin in turmeric gets absorbed best when combined with piperine in black pepper. Taking a spoonful of coconut oil or flax oil along with the tea will increase the absorbancy further since curcumin is fat-soluble. I personally add a spoonful of coconut oil at the end of 10 min steeping. Adding oil to the tea may sound odd, but this makes the tea more like a comforting soup broth which can be quite enjoyable with coconut fragrance rounding down the spice. You can visually confirm the fat-solubility of curcumin this way, since there will be much less of the spice leftover sitting at the bottom of the cup. Take at least 2 tsp of turmeric a day for its anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory benefits. For cancer prevention, dosage should be increased to 400-500mg of curcumin a day, which equals to about 2 tablespoons of dried turmeric powder (1 tablespoon contains to about 230 mg of curcumin). I drink the tea several times a day instead of using the spice to cook since my husband isn't too fond of the taste of turmeric, and you can only have so much of foods flavored with turmeric on daily basis. The tea may require getting used to, but I hope you can eventually enjoy it as well since curcumin is so beneficial for your body. Dr. Andrew Weil, one of the most respected in holistic health, believes that whole turmeric is more effective than isolated curcumin for inflammatory disorders, and I try to keep my supplements as natural and unadulterated as possible.Addendum: If you experience unexplained headache after drinking the tea recipe above, you should first try lowering the amount of oil being added to the tea. If you consume too much fat for your gallbladder to handle, this can cause headaches for many people unbeknownst to them. This is also the reason why you may even experience migraine, right neck/shoulder pain or sometimes pain directly on the upper right abdomen (directly below the rib cage, about an inch off the center) when you eat lots of nuts, seeds or other fatty/rich foods that put strain on the gallbladder. This organ stress causes referred pain up through the spinal cord via the right phrenic nerve that materialize as seemingly irrelevant pains, such as headache or tight painful right shoulder. In addition, while turmeric itself is known to help bile production, you could inadvertently worsen problem if you happened to have bile duct obstruction with inadequate room for the bile excretion. Excess turmeric intake is also observed to aggravate liver and gallbladder that can lead to inflammation (Cholecystitis). Bottom line--please start slowly and see how your body responds.

Keep The Indus Flowing
I decided to purchase this, despite all the questionable controversy about the seller. I dislike it when people get emotional and can't leave an honest review about a product and instead, go into attacking a vendor who is just trying to offer a decent product and only asks for an opportunity to make it right. People have a strange way of twisting things. I'm glad I almost bought this.Unfortunately, UPS shipped this somewhere else and emailed me with a delay in the delivery. The second time UPS tried to deliver it, they sent it all the way across the US. It went from Oakland CA to somewhere in Kentucky. Sometimes PRIME delivery isn't. :-) Of course, I was emailed that there was going to be a second delay. With the Ebola scare, I didn't want a package that had been traveling the country. I contacted Indus Organics and they happily refunded my money and apologized for the inconvenience, though it was not their fault. I was told I could keep the Turmeric Powder anyway or discard it.While I did keep it, I used care in opening the box, just in case, and washed my hands and the jar afterwards. When I opened the lid, the seal was not totally intact, but I have had that happen many, many times over the years with other similar containers. Whether it was Pistol River Mushroom powder or Costco's spices, etc.. Since I know this comes directly from Indus Organics, I was not worried, as others claimed to be. Sometimes when you unscrew the lid on these containers, it caused the seal to detach and is not a big deal.As for the quality of this stuff, I was surprised how fresh it is. Someone likened it to sawdust, well it is powdered root. If you have ever cut fresh firewood or used a table saw to cut wood, you get that nice wood smell, especially from firewood that is still a bit moist. That is the only way this is like sawdust; it had a fresh smell. After that, there is no comparison. This stuff is not grainy and is truly a powder. I licked the inside of the seal, which had a lot of the turmeric on it. I was surprised at the taste, it was so different from my other turmeric. I can't say that I like the taste of any turmeric powder, per se, but that is another story. I usually buy my herbs and spices from San Francisco Herb Company (SFHC) and I used that turmeric to compare. The Indus is lighter in color and tasted far better. I never felt turmeric had much taste, but when comparing, there is a difference. SFHC's turmeric was significantly more bitter and did have that grainy texture. It was like small dirt or sand particles. There was none of that in this stuff.I thank Indus Organics for the complimentary bottle. Since I am using it for health reasons and not just for cooking, I will be going through much more of this and will, without a doubt, buy it from Indus Organics in the future. This really is super quality turmeric and I highly recommend it.

Good for you.
When I make my 6 cups of coffee in the morning I put about 3/4 teaspoon in the grinds along with cinnamon. It is great. Be careful, do not over do because it does have a diabetic effect if you OD. They recommend it as a tea (not for me) but be careful with amt and have a cookie with it.Great in oil, onions and garlic heated to prepare other veges like spinach or anything.I did think it changed the taste of my tomato sauce which I did not care for.I will try it in chili.

Turmeric Helps Boils Heal.
I had a boil under my arm that had turned into 4 connected boils. Very painful! My Dr had placed me on Bactum & Doxycycline 3 times. Each time the boil would get better but would come back when I had completed the antibiotics. After researching online, I discovered people were having success with Turmeric for boils. I put 1 tsp of Turmeric in a cup, along with 1/ 2 tsp of black pepper & a Tbsp of Coconut oil. Place the cup with the mixture in it in a pan with boiling water for 10 minutes. Let cool & drink while still liquid. The ingredients rely upon each other for the best results. More information can be found online about this if you do a quick search.Within 30 minutes of taking the mixture the boil began to drain. I took this mixture twice a day, when I woke up & before I went to bed. The results were amazing! The boil has healed; however, It did take some time because mine had turned into a carbuncle, which is just more than one boil in the same place. Now I take this mixture every morning when I wake up & the boil has not returned. Also, you might be interested to know that I found that the reason for the boil coming up in the first place was because I was using a dull razor to shave.
