If you need any idea of this book's overall impression, it begins with a backstory involving a baby being strangled to death during birth by its umbilical cord; this is quickly followed by the line, "And no one cared."I get that Carnage stories are not...for kids, but this is tasteless, and adds a weak connection to the overall plot. There could have been a better point in this character's life to insert said trauma, but no, we get a dead baby.The art is statistically ugly, which, while it suits Carnage in personality, it makes certain panels indistinguishable and can remove you from the story.The main speaker in the story gets badly-written dialogue--something I'm seeing as a bad trend with the current writer--which makes the weight of what she says fall flat when you can tell it means to be dramatic.I am slightly curious where the story will go, but this issue left a bad taste in my mouth to where I'm nervous for the arc.
