Double Conversion Superheterodyne receiver is tight, RX audio is super,
The mono band 400 to 480 I believe? is a nice band spread for all types of different applications like Ham Radio, Police Scanner, Business Radio, FRS and GMRS. The radio is solid built like a tank, strong ABS plastic case and water tight. This ver is 14.09 so TyToolZ can't be loaded on this radio but so what it's fine the way it is from the manufacturer. TYT has come along way, their products ,getting better and better as China grows to the top of the electronics manufacturing, this radio is no exception you can tell they are listening to and responding to customers input. It's a great radio for the money, is it a Motorola? No but for what you pay for these you really do get your money's worth. Double Conversion Superheterodyne receiver is a rarity now with most of these Chinese radios most have a Direct Conversion which is the cheaper & easier to make. Do I recommend this radio? You bet I do, it's a great buy.

Works well.
Overall a decent radio. Once you figure out how to program it it works well for the price. Great range using the larger antenna.

with transferable code plugs and a good user community
Very much for the experienced user, but so much quality for that person. For example, I have a GMRS, Ham, and business radio license. This radio does analog and digital seamlessly, with transferable code plugs and a good user community. Fully Trbo compatible, encryption, and regular updates from the manufacturer. Solid and rugged. Great battery life.
