Q: Does it have a temperature gauge? Looks like it does from the picture.

Yes. It does have a temp gauge. It’s great. The ash bucket underneath is brilliant. Very sturdy etc. Recommended

Q: Should I get this or the Weber compact? This seems to have a better ash tray, and the lid hooks.

Used the GF last night and it works great. Big enough to feed four from, and has lasted well so far - I’ve had it for about three years. Haven’t seen the Weber alternative, so can’t really comment and I guess it depends what you’re looking for size wise. Very useful that it’s moveable, and it doesn’t take up much room to store. Ours is outside all year so have a cover for it.

Q: Can it cook by indirect heat? I need one that will cook a whole turkey.

Once the coals are well alight the lid creates a great oven effect and the thermostat helps monitor the temperature - but - I think you would struggle to cook a whole turkey on this bbq but you could give it a go.
