Q: do i need internet connection to download dlc content onto my xbox?

With the legendary edition comes two disks. The first disc is the base game. The second disk contains all the DLC and its own installer, so you will not need an Internet connection. Just the second disk :)

In all it took 1.5 gigs, so nothing to really worry about taking up space.

You don't have to start from scratch. But be prepared. The new story lines will be applied right away. I loaded up a save I had not played in a while and went to the nearest forge to check out the new weapons and armor available for crafting. I was immediately interrupted by people recruiting vampire hunters. and immediately after that attacked by dragonborn cultists. Boy, was I surprised. I had forgotten what type of character this was and took some damage before I got back into the groove. Some bystanders were killed which I always try to avoid, so I will probably replay it now that I know these encounters are impending.Kev!

Q: What is the difference between the Legendary Edition and the other one?

I haven't played the other one so I don't know everything that's missing but there are several add-ons. You aren't capped at level 81. You can level up indefinitely. There are additional quests in legendary too I believe. This is a huge game. You will play it for months. Get the legendary version. It's worth it.
