Great book on the Subject.
Good information on Ayurvedic Herbs is sometimes hard to come by. I own a few books on the subject, but this is the first that I have found that has extended information on the use of Ayurvedic herbs by an experienced Ayurvedic herbal practitioner, who also happens to be a professional member of the American Herbalist's Guild. Most books on the subject give lots of information on Ayurvedic principles and just cursory information on how the herbs are used or just give cursory herbal or scientific information This book gives both extended information on Ayurvedic Herbs and how they are used within the content of Ayurvedic healing principles. It is a wonderful addition to any herbalists information on Ayurveda and Ayurvedic herbs. Thanks Karta Purkh Singh Khalsa and Michael Tierra for putting out this book!

Excellent Resource!
A great book for a beginner. I'm learning a lot, which will help me personally for my own exploration into Ayurvedic healing practices, as well as in my pursuit of a new doctor who incorporates more functional/integrative practices in his/her approach to medicine. It's an easy to read book with a great appendix, glossary, bibliography, recommended reading suggestions, herbal resources, etc. I am very glad that I chose this particular book!

Good introduction, but book needs work
I thought the information in The Way of Ayurvedic Herbs was very good and I got a lot of insight into this ancient system of medicine. However, there are major issues with the production of the book. The cover is attractive and referenced the covers of Michael Tierra's other books The Way of Herbs and The Way of Chinese Herbs and neatly tied the book into the series. However, this title, which was produced by Lotus Press, does not match the quality of those books (issued by another publisher) in terms of editing, layout and typesetting. Unfortunately, these problem areas make the book look like a low-end "self-published" title. I have other books from Lotus Press that were also written by Michael Tierra that were very professionally edited and typeset and I don't understand what has happened to the company's standards since these books came out in the 1990s. Sorry to see this occur with what is otherwise an outstanding book by two authors I admire.

Can't put it down. What a blast!
If you want to learn something new, something different than the usual western or even Chinese herbs, this is the one. It will take you beyond the Indian's home remedies and kitchen spices. Not that there's anything wrong with it.This is my first intro to Ayurvedic herbs at a level that can deal with serious conditions from cholesterol, hypertension, heart diseases to diabetic. And we're talking about powerful yet safe herbs from being tested for thousand(s) of years. Thanks Yogi Bhajan, Khalsa and Mike Tierra for this ground breaking and fun to read book. Ayurvedic reminds me of yoga back in the 70's. It was so new and not many people knew about it then. 40 years later, millions of people are doing yoga every day in the U.S. I think the same will happen to Ayurvedic. It's too good not to rise!
