Excellent
I bought this in the hope of breathing new life into our winter worn, moss covered lawns. I wasn't expecting too much as they were in a pretty bad state after a wet though reasonably mild UK winter. One lawn at the side of the house gets very little sun during the winter months and was thickly covered in moss. So I wasn't surprised when there seemed to be very little grass left after I used this brilliant little machine. I could have done it more lightly and not taken so much off it but one way or another I was going to have to re-seed it anyway come spring. Still, it looked much better without the moss and left me with patches of bare earth on which to spread the seed. The front lawn wasn't as badly affected by moss but it had only ever had a bit of a raking each spring so it hasn't grown very well for a few years now. I was amazed at the stuff I pulled out of the small lawn. I filled our large wheelie bin with it and still had some in a bag afterwards. I won't say it looked great but it did look better. Since then we've had mild days and a bit of rain and it's perked up amazingly. I'll probably give it another lighter going over before summer, but it looks wonderful considering how it started out. So, yes, get this machine if, like me, you have small lawns. I think you'd struggle to do a large lawn with such a compact machine. But for me its been well worth the money and I intend to buy more Gardena attachments now I've got the handle as they're excellent quality and look like lasting me years. Highly recommended.

It did what I expected
Previously I owned an electric scarifier that removed a significant amount of thatch in a very short time. This electric scarifier was of much lower cost than the Gardena device. However, it left the lawn looking brown and very sad for weeks afterwards (thereafter I was banned by the family from using it).I purchased the Gardena device to allow me to gently remove a fraction of the accumulated thatch every few weeks. The first couple of times proved to be hard-work, but as the weeks passed it became significantly easier with the sharp blades gliding through the healthy grass. The second reason for the purchase was to provide me with some gentle exercise with a visible result both in terms of lawn quality and waistline. The device is robust and well constructed. The downsides are twofold. The first is that there is no useful instruction leaflet provided in the box or online. The usual source of videos is similarly unhelpful. Simple question - just how do you use the device? The answer may be to pull it towards you using the longest pole handle to form a small inclined angle between the pole handle and the ground. Repeat all movement tracks at ninety degrees to improve thatch removal. The second downside is that on first use the blades will probably snatch and get caught up by the thatch, this makes the device almost impossible to pull towards you. Don't give in to the blisters - use velocity and momentum to cut through the thatch. On the second outing it will be pleasantly easy. I cannot yet comment on whether the device is usable for removing Autumn leaves.

Does the job
This worked wonders at removing moss and thatch from our lawns. Hard work because the ground is quite gard but worth the effort. Only down side is having to purchase the handle separately.

Very good
It make you sweat alot. But it does the job perfectly. You just need to find one of the smaller one for the edges because with this ypu can't do it if on some parts lawn is close to the wall

Very good at stripping out moss
A bit of light exerciseLength of pole needs to be correct so that angle of attack is correct otherwise too much taken up from grass and sore back. Lawn had a lot of moss so has made big difference.

Gardena lawn aerator
The item it is difficult to use, the handle purchased with it is far too short, there are no detailed instructions as to how it should be used. The first time I used it the plastic clip attached by two springs fell off and was difficult to reapply then fell off again. It scratches the lawn by removing the moss.

Amazing
We used it on our grass - so much of dead one! Easy to use. The only regret - I did not buy it earlier. Well made. Highly recommend 👌🏽
