Q: When should these backs be replaced with new bags? How much water should accumulate in the lower chamber?

I replaced it when the white crystals in the upper chamber were nearly gone. I'd say the lower chamber was filled more than half-way.

Q: Is this product good for storage units?

DampRid is great for storage units. For larger or unattended areas, the 4 lb. Hi Capacity Moisture Absorber is a recommended product (for areas up to 1000 square feet and lasts up to 6 months.) Q: is this 3 boxes of 3 bags?

I bought this option: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072LN492H/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and the box had 3 hanging bags in it. I ordered two three-packs for a total of 6 units for $19. The description is confusing, and the pricing doesn't really make sense to me (doesn't seem like the price per unit is going UP if you buy a higher quantity, the opposite of a volume discount?). I'll be curious what others say, if they ordered the option with more units. I do recommend the product!
