Handy
Price, available, handy. I bought one of these about 10 yrs ago (i think) and found it hard to get another one in my area. I remember I paid $10.00 THEN! This is a nice little mini-plane. example: I installed a new door in an old house, and instead of getting a door with a frame, I got just the door. (nothing square in this house!) I forgot to put a block plane in my box and instead of going out to get one, I just grabbed this thing out of my bag and was able to shave off here and there. End grain no problem! you do need to hone it good tho. I also found it impossible to find replacement irons. (one inch) Finally found some and bought a half dozen. Get a few of these and you won't regret it. Sand the bottom, hone the little blade and shave away. Not easy setting the blade, but hey, you'll be surprised how handy it can be.Cons: long time delivery

Great Just Great
I finally got around to using this thing just not what I intended to use it for when I bought it. I planed a window frame in a garage door. It worked well. Wear gloves and be strong. I think they should include a twenty language paper on how to keep the blade sharp. Recommended

Nice tool for finishing work
This isn't a tool for doing fine bench work or large pieces but it's a great help in finishing work on small details. I use it to remove a bead of paint that is a little too thick along an edge or to round an edge of a board off a table or miter saw. It's easy to keep in a pouch and pull out when needed but cheap enough that you don't feel bad using it in ways you wouldn't use a Lie Nielsen. It worked fine out of the box and better after a bit of tuning.

Not durable
Got this to fix some cabinet doors and tried it on my son's sticking bedroom door, just the upper corner. Sadly disappointed.Reading other reviews, I set this on some 400 grit paper on a know flat surface (milled stone register, to ensure it was true - not bad, some small issues but were easily corrected. This mini does not do end-grain well (top of a door style). Chatters a lot and the blade won't stay in place, needs a 'screw' cut or pliers to really tighten it to hold - fingers don't work (unless your a gorilla), the blade slips. Blade was sharp out of the pack. but 'chipped' quickly. Around 30 passes over a coarse stone (180 grit) at 17.5*, and 30 over a fine (360 grit) got the edge somewhat back, but final evaluation is yet to be seen. So far, not impressed. Blade edge needs to be hardened, blade holding screw needs to have a slot to tighten - and as others have said, not comfortable since it is so small, but get over that. It is not a full sized block plane so it will not be convenient for larger hands.

Great Little Trimming Plane
I've been very happy with this product. It's small, sharp and works very well. I used it to trim some curled up edges on a few deck boards.

Good for stuck doors
I used this to shave down a door and it worked well. It takes a few seconds to set the blade and get going. I removed one star because the planer was unsealed from the retail packaging when I received it.

Right tool for the job
This was a great tool to have on hand when we were shingling our new shed. No need to bring out the big table saw, just zipped off what needed to be removed. Small, compact, easy to use. Nice thing to have!
