I would have difficulty finding fault in a foam ring in the first place, but this one is the right size and thickness to replace the one we lost. It filters at what seems to be the same rate as before( no science on this ). if you have lost yours, you should consider getting this because it really helps in keeping the full size filter lasting longer as this is easy to shake out to clean. The main filter works without it , but clogs faster and you need an air hose or canned air to clean it versus just shaking it out.
