Great little controller
I got one of these to carry around a portable controller for use with my tablet or phone when I'm traveling so that I can either play games on them or stream them to them. It's light but feels sturdy, it has all of the buttons you'd expect on a modern controller, and the battery life is good. It's actually a bit smaller than I expected; I knew it'd be small, but the model hands in the screenshots are tiny compared to mine. It'd be nice to have a ruler for comparison. It's small enough that it will probably be uncomfortable for longer gaming sessions, but that's the price you pay for portability, I suppose. The case is fine, but nothing special; it's just large enough to fit the controller and USB cable inside, so it'll do its job.A complaint unrelated to the controller itself is that the company's firmware updates require you use a Mac or Windows computer to install them, which is less than ideal if you've only got a Linux machine (or no desktop PC at all). The controller I got appears to already have the latest firmware on it, so it's not an issue right now, but it may be an annoyance in the future.

RetroPie user: My favorite retro controller for NES, SNES & PSX games
I bought this controller to use exclusively with a little gaming console I built using a customized version of RetroPie. It works like a dream. The controller is, frankly, awesome looking. I'm a child of the 80s/90s and just looking at this thing brings back so many memories. It's comfortable to hold, feels solid, and controls exceptionally well. I actually find this controller more comfortable to hold than some more modern controllers like the DualShock 4 or the PS Vita.I think you can safely ignore the reviews criticizing build quality. I've clocked around 8 hours with this controller so far (mostly playing Castlevania SOTN and Super Mario 3) and the buttons feel perfect, right down to the texture of the start/select buttons in the center. Precision/control and speed is phenomenal.Pairing the controller with RetroPie is dead simple; 8bitdo is natively supported by the software. All of the buttons do exactly what you would expect them to do in all of the games I tested for NES, SNES, PSX, etc.Even the unboxing experience is terrific. It's almost Apple-like.If you're a fan of 80s/90s video games and want to re-live that era in your living room, then stop reading and buy this thing. You will probably be happy.

Revisit your childhood with this modern update to a classic controller.l!
The controller came as quickly as advertised and the package was pristine. The case advertised was missing, and even though it almost took a ratings hit for it they responded immediately to my complaint and I had it in another two days. For prompt, polite and effective customer service they the full rating. The product itself is amazing. It’s a little small so it may not be comfortable for people that have bigger hands or prefer larger controllers like the Duke controller for the og Xbox, but it’s fine for me.Each button has fantastic tactile response and the shoulder buttons being on the same row is easier to adapt to than you would think.Esthetically the controller is gorgeous. The injection-molded feel of the plastic is completely reminiscent of NES controllers of yore, and they did an incredible job of recreating the look and feel of the original it is based on while still updating the number of buttons and adding analog sticks. Button layouts are exactly as you would expect them to be, and the 4 face buttons are in a perfect triangle, making the layout easily translatable to current controller layouts. They also rounded the edges so it’s not in that uncomfortable boxy rectangle that so many of us hurt our hands on as kids. It’s essentially an NES version of the DualShock.Bluetooth button press response is totally fine, although obviously not as fast as a wired connection, so I would suggest maybe not using this at your next evo match. However outside of that it does everything you’d want it to do, still performs marvelously in platformers, and for my purposes as being an rpg stick you couldn’t ask for a better nostalgia-laden easily portable stick.
