Excellent and reliable light

As someone who commutes by bike daily both through a town and a national park, I need a reliable light that is long lasting and rugged. This light may seem expensive, but it is worth every cent as it has not failed me for months. I previously owned a more expensive light that had a broken strap and power button within a couple of years. This one is clearly built much better. The system to remove the like is well thought out. It is very fast to remove the light for charging, or even to switch to a different bike. I don't even charge if very often as I rarely use the highest setting despite cycling in unlit areas. The 200 lumen setting is often enough, but it is great to have the 800 lumen option for sketch sections of road or path. The flashing light is fantastic to stay safe in areas of traffic. I recommend this light to anyone who commutes.Pros:- Long lasting battery- Very bright, and has a range of useful settings- Very durable and rugged- Charging port is easy to access but also well sealedCons:- USB C charging would be great

Cateye Amp 900 Front Light

The Cateye Amp 900 has 5 light settings I currently own a Cateye volt 1700 I decided to get the 900 for night riding and fitted this to my MTB it is very good and clear light giving you plenty of distance when riding in the dark. The construction is metal which in time will be asset and being that this is fully waterproof the build quality is very good.So if you are looking for a midrange cost light with high quality features this is the light to have and at ÂŁ45 I paid I am very happy with my purchase

Great all-round light

Pros-Really easy to install, and the fixture holds nice and tight without slipping. The light has a small amount of play to allow you to angle it away from oncoming cars which is a bonus.Multiple levels of intensity gives great versatility - at 400 lumens I can still see enough even on completely unlit stretches. 1100 lumens is great when I get off the road and could do with being able to see more of my surroundings. Two different flashing patterns are great for added visibility during the day.Seems to be really well-built, and has a "premium" feel. Has survived a couple of moderate showers, though it hasn't yet been tested in prolonged heavy rain.Cons-Bit on the pricey side, though as I said it does feel like a premium product, and I don't feel ripped off after spending ÂŁ60-ish on the set.Battery life feels a little stingy. I'm lucky that I only have to use it for 30 mins at a time in the early hours so I only need to give it a top-up every other day. Worst case for me is that after about three days of this sort of use it went into the red. I could see it being a pain if you needed to charge from empty every day though. No way to change intensity down, you have to cycle through brightness levels in order. This is only a minor thing but if I want to step down a level (say from 1100 to 800) I have to make four clicks, which means scrolling through the two low-power flashing settings, and that's not ideal on the move in the dark. All in all though, I highly recommend this light. I'll definitely look to Cateye when I get round to buying a backup light, and I would definitely buy another one of these as my daily driver if mine got lost or broken.

Versatile. Compact. Useful as a torch, too. Shame about the power button

Excellent AMPP400 cyclist front lamp with bracket. Very bright, & adequate for purposes of catcing other road users attention & illuminating the way. Light penetrates dark roads with broad enough beam, including road signs & the ubiquitous pot holes or drain covers in the wet.Have used this as a torch in the home as a focus beam while searching around darkened corners & cupboards, too (v.bright, illuminating, & v.useful).Number of light settings including flashing modes, which perserves battery life. Judged battery life adequate for at least a daily 2 hour commute on full power mode (probably more), good for survival on those dark winter nights. Holds its charge well, so far.ONLY FAULT noticed is the waterproof power button. Similar, but larger version of, the rubberised buttons on a TV remote, which i assume activates a printed circuit board below. After one years use I found the power button became faulty. It wouldn't always work of power up. Pressing the button would not always activate the unit, or access to the various light settings with mutiple-presses i.e low light, flashing light, high light, flashing + constant light. However the unit will still eventually work with repeated attempts, & is bright & useful as ever. It's the standing around at the bike shed, pressing the thing until it works, & feeling a bit silly, which is the odd experience. Hopefully the manufacturer can sort the button, if they pick up the feedback. My guess, the rubberised button is to aid water proofing but needs a little finessing to make it perfect. Other wise, highly recommended lamp.

So Bright It Gave a Hedgehog an Existential Crisis

This light is absurdly bright; in the best possible way. I turned it on and half expected air traffic control to start issuing me instructions. On full beam, it doesn't just light the road, it interrogates it.Fitted it to my bike, went for a night ride, and honestly, I think I startled a fox into early retirement. One hedgehog gave me a look that said, “Mate, I wasn’t ready for this level of scrutiny.”Battery life is excellent, the mounting is solid, and it doesn’t bounce around even on rough tracks. It charges quickly via USB and has different brightness modes, including a “don’t blind the pedestrians” setting.CatEye have outdone themselves. If you want to ride at night and actually see, not just be seen, this is the lamp. Highly recommend; just maybe warn the wildlife first.
